NUTRITIONAL ANALYSIS Included in all our plans
BUILT FROM FRESH Our Dog Food Menu Plans Are...
The quality of our health-promoting meal plans surpasses anything available on the commercial dog food market, including prescription and high-end dog foods. All of our menu plans are designed to ensure your dog’s caloric and nutritional needs are met through fresh, whole foods you prepare at home.*
Total calories is where we start…how many calories does your dog need. From there we build the macronutrients; proteins, carbohydrates and fats. The precise volume of ingredients and combination of foods are there to deliver critical micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) in the right combinations and ratios. We do all these calculations, so you don’t have to do the guess work.
NUTRITIONAL ANALYSIS DETAILS
The benefit of our menu plans is that we utilize fresh, whole-foods, better known as human or people food. Using human grade ingredients ensures your dog is eating ONLY food, unlike commercial dog food. We utilize U.S.D.A data as our primary source of macronutrient and micronutrient analysis.
Macronutrients include proteins, carbohydrates and fats. We aim to provide at least 30-40% of your dog’s diet from protein with the predominant sources being meat. Because dog’s do not have a huge need for carbohydrates, we keep the percentages low…no higher than 30%.We shoot for levels around 25-30% for healthy dogs. Dogs are lucky. They can enjoy a diet much higher in fat than humans.
Dogs with health conditions may require our Customized Menu Plan to overcome any deficiencies caused by the disease itself or medications.
Your dog cannot get everything they need from meat only. Some micronutrients are present in vegetables, fruits or grains, and not meats. Healthy dogs with healthy systems have the proper enzymes to process carbohydrates. No reason to shy away from such an important ingredient.
If you believe your dog is allergic to an ingredient, we highly recommend you have a Nutriscan which tests for foods your dog or cat may be sensitive to. Most dogs are NOT allergic, but sensitive. And sensitivities do not mean there will be a reaction. We can then design a Customized Menu Plan around your dog’s sensitivities.
As true with humans, the proper ratio of Omega-6s to Omega-3s is critical. Unfortunately diets today tend to be heavy on the Omega-6 side creating an imbalance. We select ingredients and volumes to keep the Omega-3s as high as possible.
It’s a tricky balance between Calcium and Phosphorus. Calcium can be difficult to meet daily requirements. We often end up with an overabundance of Phosphorus. Our dog food menu plans ensure your dog’s calcium needs are met using fresh, whole-foods. We prefer not to supplement minerals, as the body prefers them in their natural state.
